Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could assist the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This means them little choice but to head to Timmony in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
